Mrs. Blubaugh , the Agricultural Literacy Presenter from the DuPage County Farm Bureau, came to present a lesson on apples. We learned how apple blossoms are pollinated and how the fruit forms around the seeds. We tasted Honey Crisp, Granny Smith, Red Delicious, and Gala Apples to name a few of the varieties that were presented that day. We also learned about the characteristics of each type of apple. The most surprising fact we learned was that the pear is a member of the apple family!
