This week in 3rd Grade.....
Spelling - This week in spelling the students will be focusing on words ending with the suffixes -tion and -sion.
Reading - The 3rd graders will read a section of the fantasy story Charlotte's Web. In class the students will practice making inferences when reading, identifying the sequence of events, and using irregular verbs correctly in sentences.
Math - We have begun a new chapter in math about time and measurement. This week we will be focusing on telling time, naming time intervals, and identifying the elapsed time between a start and end time.
Religion - Miss Martinez's class will finish Ch.10 this week and have a test on Ch.10 later this week.
Science - This week the 3rd graders will be finishing Ch.4 from Unit C and reviewing for the next Science test on Wednesday.
Social Studies - We will begin Ch.8 this week about important inventions and inventors. This week's focus is to learn about inventions that helped with transportation and communication. They will also practice using a timeline. Next week, the students will be working on making a timeline of inventions in class. They will use class time to research inventions and make their timelines. This Wednesday the 3rd graders will be given a handout to help further explain this timeline project. The project will be Due Wednesday May 4.
**The next book report is Due Thursday April 21**
Allergy season is just around the corner and both classes are running low on tissues. We are asking for a few students to bring in a box of tissues to keep our classrooms stocked until the end of the year. Thank you!
