This week in 3rd grade.....
Reading/Language Arts - The students will read an expository nonfiction story. In class we will learn about the different parts of a book and text features. We will practice using a dictionary and review alphabetical order. The 3rd graders will also practice identifying subjects and predicates in sentences.
** Book Reports Due Wednesday **
Spelling - The spelling words this week will all have the long vowel sounds spelled with: ee, ea, ai, ay, oa, ow. The students will also learn about homophones.
Math - The students will work on subtraction and solving word problems using addition and subtraction. We will finish Chapter 1 in the math book this week.
Religion - In Religion this week we will begin Chapter 2. The focus of Chapter 2 is to learn that the Bible is the word of God written in human words. Chapter 2 will also focus on the Church as being the community of all people baptized who believe in God and follow Jesus.
Social Studies - We will review Chapter 1 in our Social Studies book this week. The Ch.1 Test will be on Thursday.
Science - The 3rd graders will review Chapter 1 in the Science book this week. The Ch.1 Science Test will be Wednesday.

- Lesson 3 Reading and Spelling Test Friday
**All of next week the students will be taking the IOWA Test in class. It is important for the 3rd graders to get a good night sleep and eat a nutritious breakfast to help them prepare for the test all week.**
