September 26 - 30

We will be back to our normal schedule this week in 3rd grade. Hopefully everyone had a restful weekend after the IOWA testing. 

*Please remember to sign Progress Reports and send them back in to 3rd grade teachers.* 

This Wednesday Firefighter T.J. will visit the 3rd grade classrooms to teach our first Fire Safety lesson!! 

Reading - This week the students will read a biography story in Lesson 4. We will continue working on locating information in a book (index, table of contents, headings, etc.) and using a dictionary. The students will learn about compound subjects and predicates in sentences. The 3rd graders will also write an autobiography about themselves in class this week. 

** Book Reports Due Wednesday, October 5**

Spelling - The lesson 4 spelling words this week are all plural words ending with -s or -es. 

Math - The 3rd graders will be finishing Chapter 1 in their math books this week on rounding, addition, subtraction, estimating sums and differences. The Chapter 1 Test will be on Thursday. 

Social Studies - In Social Studies this week they will be starting Chapter 2 about different communities (urban, suburban, and rural commuities). 

Science - The 3rd graders will begin Unit A Ch.2 this week about animal life cycles. 

Religion - The students will begin Chapter 3 about how families teach love. The chapter will focus on Mary as the mother of the Church and how the Domestic Church teaches us how to love and about Christ. The students were told to bring in a rosary to school this week to practice praying the rosary together as a class at the end of the week.
