This week in 3rd grade....
Spelling - The Lesson 8 spelling words this week will focus on words with oi, oy, ow, and ou.
Reading - The 3rd graders will read the photo essay "How Animals Talk" in their Storytown books, practice identifying main idea and details, learn about using different reference sources, and practice using abbreviations in writing.
Math - The students will continue learning multiplication this week. They will learn how to model multiplication problems using arrays and bar models to help solve multiplication problems. They will also learn about the Commutative Property of Multiplication.
Religion - Miss Martinez's class will have their Ch.4 Test on Tuesday. This week the 3rd graders will begin Ch.5 in their religion books. They will be learning about the parts of the Liturgy at mass and the sacraments.
Social Studies - This week the 3rd graders will continue learning about the Election process with their 2nd grade buddies. Over the next couple of weeks the 3rd and 2nd graders will have their own class election to vote for a 2nd/3rd grade mascot!
Science - This 3rd graders will continue to learn about how plants and animals are able to adapt to their environments and food chains. Science projects are due November 19.
