Spelling - The students will focus on the consonant blends: str, scr, and spr this week. The Lesson 9 Spelling test will be on Thursday.
Reading - This week we will be reading the Folktale Stone Soup and the Legend of Johnny Appleseed in class. They will continue working on identifying main idea and details in a text. The 3rd graders will focus on using reference sources (thesaurus and dictionary) correctly. There will also be more practice of identifying and using singular or plural nouns. The Lesson 9 Reading Test will be on Thursday.
**Book Reports are due November 18**
Math - The 3rd graders will be finishing Chapter 3 on multiplication this week. The Ch.3 test on multiplication will be Monday next week. Please continue to help the students practice their multiplication facts at home with flashcards or the GoMath website.
Science - The students will learn about food chains this week. They will also be given time in class to work on their animal project. They are encouraged this week to bring in any materials (poster, notes, pictures, etc.) that they may need to work on their project in class on Wednesday.
Social Studies - The 2nd and 3rd graders will finish learning about the election and voting process this week. We will end this mini unit by presenting their candidate posters with their slogans and voting for the next 2nd/3rd grade mascot!
**Reminder: Please sign and return permission slips for our field trip to see a play at the Tivoli next month.**
