Reading and Spelling - The reading and spelling lessons this week will be a review of lessons 6-9. In class we will review fact vs. opinion, synonyms, antonyms, using references sources to locate information, compound sentences, plural words, abbreviations, common and proper nouns, main idea and details. The students will have a vocabulary quiz on Thursday that will cover several vocabulary words from lessons 6-9. A handout was given to the students with a list of the vocabulary words and topics to study/review for the upcoming Theme 2 test and vocabulary quiz.

Math - This week the 3rd graders will continue to work on multiplication. We will begin Chapter 4 and focus more on multiplication facts. It would be helpful to practice multiplication facts at home as well.
Social Studies - The students will being Chapter 4 in the Social Studies text about the importance of celebrating different cultures and holidays. 3rd graders will learn about traditions, how other cultures celebrate holidays, and the importance celebrations have in communities. We will also learn about the 4 hemispheres of the Earth.
Science - The 3rd graders will learn about the interdependence of plants and animals, research for their food chain projects, and review Chapter 3 this week in Science. Science projects are due Friday.
Religion - This week in religion the students will learn about the Seven Sacraments, the parts of the Mass or Liturgy, and the importance of participating during Mass. The 3rd graders will also have parts in the upcoming school Masses the next two weeks. Students from Mrs. Moss' class will have parts in the school Mass on Nov.15. Students from Miss Martinez's class will have parts in the school Mass on Nov.22. The 3rd graders would be happy to see friendly faces at these masses!
