January 4-6

Welcome back and Happy New Year to everyone!!

During this short week in 3rd grade...

Reading - In class we will read the expository non-fiction story "One Small Place in a Tree" in Lesson 14. The students will continue to practice identifying the author’s purpose for writing. We will also work on identifying antecedents and pronouns in sentences. The Lesson 14 test focusing on identifying the author's purpose for writing will be on Monday, Jan.9.

* The next book report is Due January 13 *

Spelling - The Lesson 14 spelling words this week will contain words with long and short vowel sounds. The Lesson 14 test will be on Monday, Jan.9.

Math - In math this week the 3rd graders will continue working on multiplication strategies and problem solving with multiplication in Chapter 5. 

Religion - This week the students will finish Chapter 6 on prayer and the importance of praying in daily life. 

Social Studies - The 3rd graders will begin Chapter 3 this week about people moving to new communities, reasons why people move, and the importance of learning new customs in new communities. 

Science - The Unit A Ch.4 test is Thursday this week. 


* With the cold/flu season in full swing we are beginning to run low on tissues in our 3rd grade classrooms. Any extra tissue boxes brought in for our classrooms would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! *
