Reading- This week the students will be reviewing concepts leaned in lessons 11-14. We will review plot, using context clues when reading to find the meaning of unknown words, author’s purpose, pronouns, possessive nouns, and using graphic aids. The 3rd graders will also be learning about Martin Luther King Jr. this week. In class they will work on writing about Martin Luther King Jr.'s dream and their own dreams for their future. Book reports are due Friday.
Math - We will be finishing Ch.5 this week on multiplication. The Ch.5 Test will be on Thursday.
Religion - In religion this week we will begin Chapter 7 about spreading the good news. Ch.7 will focus on: that Jesus taught about God's Kingdom of love, peace and justice that is in Heaven. The students will learn that Jesus established the Kingdom of God on Earth, and His teaching and miracles were signs of the Kingdom.
Social Studies - The students will continue learning about intermediate directions and how to use a map to give directions. We will continue reading Ch.3 and learning about how people might need to learn new customs when they move to a new area. The students will also begin learning about how immigrants traveled from all over the world to the United States many years ago.
Science - In class the 3rd graders will begin Unit C, Ch.1. They will explore how volcanoes form, identify land forms, learn about weathering, erosion and how living things bring change.
