This week the 3rd graders will be working on....
Spelling - The Lesson 21 spelling words this week will focus on words containing the oo sound spelled with: oo, ew, ue, and ui.
Reading/Language Arts - This week in reading the students will read an expository nonfiction story (Antarctic Ice), practice lesson 21 vocabulary words, identify the sequence in stories using time order words, use the verb “be” correctly in sentences, and practice identifying the author’s message of a story. The students will also be working on researching facts and writing a paper on one president this week in class. The 3rd graders will be picking either George Washington or Abraham Lincoln to research and write about.
**Book Reports Due Friday**
Math - This week we will be finishing chapter 7 on division. The Chapter 7 Test will be on Thursday. The test will contain division problems, solving 2-step word problems, and solving equations/word problems using the order of operations correctly. We will begin Chapter 8 in the 2nd math book at the end of the week beginning to learn about fractions.
Religion - The 3rd graders will continue reading Chapter 9 about the Church and Stewardship. They will learn that the Church is the Body of Christ, to which all her members belong. We will discuss in class that stewardship is the way we appreciate and use God's gifts to serve God and others.
Social Studies - The students will review Chapter 5 in class this week. The Chapter 5 test will be on Monday 2/27.
Science - There will be a test on Unit C Ch.2 on Thursday this week.
