This week in class the 3rd graders will be working on.....
Spelling - The lesson 19 words this week will all contain the prefixes: re-, un-, and dis-.
Reading - In class the students will continue to work on identifying the theme of stories. We will read the folktale "Half-Chicken"and practice identifying the theme of other texts read in class. The 3rd graders will also work on identifying and using action verbs correctly in sentences. The Lesson 19 Test on Friday will be on the "Half-Chicken" story and identifying the theme of a story.
Math - This week we will begin Chapter 7 in the math book. Chapter 7 will continue to focus on division and division facts up to 10. In class the students will continue to practice their multiplication facts as well.
Religion - In religion class the students will be working on chapter 8 in the religion book. We will focus on how Jesus died and rose to new life to save all people from the power of sin. We will also discuss in class that the Church celebrates the Paschal Mystery in all of the seven sacraments.
Social Studies - In class we will begin chapter 5 this week. The students will learn about the 5 different regions of the United States. We will focus on the different states, climate, animals, and landforms that are found in each region of the United States. We will also discuss how humans have adapted to their physical environment over time.
Science - In Science this week the students will be working on Unit C Ch.2. They will be learning about different kinds of rocks and fossils in class.
