This week in 3rd Grade...
Spelling - The Lesson 25 spelling words this week will be review words from lessons 21-24. The lesson 25 Spelling test will be Friday April 7 after Spring Break.
Reading - We will be reviewing lessons 21-24 (Theme 5) in reading. The students will read a science fiction script, practice lesson 21-25 vocabulary, review sequence, cause-and-effect, the “be” verb, main and helping verbs, present, past, and future-tense verbs. There will be no reading test or vocabulary quiz this week. The Theme 5 Reading and Vocabulary Quiz will be the Friday after Spring Break (April 7). A letter will be sent home with the students listing the vocabulary words to study for the vocabulary quiz after Spring Break.
Math - This week we will continue working on comparing fractions. The students will also begin identifying equivalent fractions.
Religion - On Thursday morning the 3rd graders will join the whole school in receiving Reconciliation. This Friday some of the 3rd graders will have reading parts in the Stations of the Cross with the 6th graders. Please feel free to come by the church and watch. The Stations start at 1:15pm.
Social Studies - We will begin Chapter 7 this week about the European Explorers that came to North America. The 3rd graders will begin learning about the different explorers that traveled West in search of a water route to China and India.
Science - The students will review Unit C Ch.3 this week in Science. The Written Solar System Report is due Wednesday. The Visual Aid is due April 19. The Unit C Ch.3 Test will be Wednesday April 5 after Spring Break.
