This Wednesday Firefighter T.J. will be stopping in for another lesson on Fire Safety!!
Spelling - The spelling words this week will focus on prefixes. The Lesson 23 words will all contain the prefixes pre-, mis-, and in-.
Reading - The 3rd graders will be working on identifying cause-and-effect relationships this week in reading. We will read the fantasy story Chestnut Cove and practice lesson 23 vocabulary words. In class we will continue to practice identifying the theme of a story and work on homophones. The 3rd graders will also work on using present tense verbs correctly in sentences. **The next book report is Due March 17**
Math - We will continue to work on fractions in Chapter 8. The students will be relating fractions to whole numbers, find the fraction of a group, find part of a group using unit fractions, and find the whole group using unit fractions. The Chapter 8 Math test will be later next week.
Religion - In class this week we will be on Chapter 10 in the Religion book. The students will learn about the different leaders in the Church and the important roles/duties they have. They will learn that the Church is one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church and what this means.
**Some students from Miss Martinez's class will be reading or bringing up the gifts at school mass on Tuesday.**
Social Studies - We will continue learning about different communities and their natural resources. This week we will learn about crossroads communities and the Underground Railroad. The next social studies test on Ch.6 will be next Wednesday
Science - The 3rd graders have begun working on their Science Solar System project. A sheet explaining the project more was sent home with the students last week. This week they will research their topics in class using books and the internet. Many students have been writing facts about their topic on 3x5 note cards. The written report is due Wednesday March 22. The Visual Aid is due Wednesday April 19.
